Position Responsibilities:

• Take Direction and fulfil responsibilities from the Controller
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable
• Prepare financial statements and analysis
• Analyze financial reports
• Supervise and review work performed by other staff
• Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
• Record financial information for analysis
• Assist the Controller in preparing documents and interpreting complicated financial information for upper management
• Advise on procedure and financial management
• Forecast and plan for future needs
• Prepare financial reports
• Maintain account balances and bank statements
• Manage general ledger and assist month-end/year-end close processes

Skills Training and Education:

• Maintain relationships and communication with key client personnel to understand business operations, processes, and functions
• Ability to demonstrate an understanding of accounting and auditing concepts and apply them to company specific situations
• Skill to bridge the gap between logistics procedures and financial accounting processes
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
• Capability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with team members, customers and vendors
• Adeptness to balance multiple projects concurrently
• Apply innovative methodologies that support an audit
• Review and evaluate internal controls and supporting documentation
• Development of solutions for implementation to mitigate deficiencies for internal control activities and supporting documentation
• Determine compliance with policies and ensure selected law/regulations are met
• Establish priorities, determine work methods and resources to maintain deadlines
• Confidentiality, including design and development and company sensitive information
• Ability to prepare general ledger journal entries and account reconciliations
• Provide accounting and auditing technical support and perform research
• Demonstrated understanding of QHSE Procedures that relate to the Accounting Department functions
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work within complex, fast-moving work environment under minimal supervision and with a  high level of responsibility
• Assist reporting personnel in QHSE processes and completing QHSE records
• Robust problem solving, accuracy, attention to detail and organizational skills
• Degree or Diploma from an accredited college/university in Accounting or Business Administration with a major in Accounting
• 3 years of accounting experience
• Solid understanding of GAAP
• Experience working with financial statements, creation & analysis
• Competency to navigate a transaction database and determine potential issues or inappropriate posting
• Proficient skills in Microsoft office – Word, Excel, etc.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP would be considered an asset
